released version 2.2 in December and here is the "What's new". In this version they changed the folder, directory system again. So if you want to convert your 2.1 code into 2.2., you may change many things. On the other side, they improved feature detection algorithms and highgui class which is impressively cool. I guess they will add VSLAM and and pointcloud algorithms to the next version. What I expect them to include is some basic OpenGL functions to display 3D reconstruction as Matlab has. But this library has the largest image processing functions and they implement the state of art so that u can try them in your research.
